Master Zephyr has remained a clear $3 favourite in 2016 Warrnambool Cup betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au this week, ahead of Adirondack ($6.50), Master Of Arts ($7.50) and Falago ($9.50).

Will Master Zephyr justify favouritism and win the 2016 Warrnambool Cup, or will one of his many talented rivals find the line in the clear?

1st

Swacadelic ($10)

Classy stayer Swacadelic has returned to racing in career-best form this time and represents terrific value for money at current $10 Warrnambool Cup odds. Posting a career total of five wins and as many minors through twenty-two starts, the Adlerflug gelding ran eighth in the Listed Bagot Handicap (2800m) on New Year’s Day before running second in the talent-rich TheShark.com.au BM84 (2406m). breaking through for a maiden black type win in the Listed Torney Night Cup (2500m) on February 19th, Swacadelic progressed to a commendable fifth in the Group 2 Adelaide Cup (3200m) but failed to match the late pace when seventh in the Listed Mornington Cup (2400m), in what was a big drop in distance. Having taken out the Anzac Cup (2530m) last time out, the five-year-old will relish the conditions of his home track on Thursday.

2nd

Café Society ($13)

Café Society has been charged with carrying 58kgs in the 2016 Warrnambool Cup but is undoubtedly one of the field’s class runners and will be very hard to beat with Damien Oliver in the saddle. Purchased from his native UK in 2014 with a view towards Australia’s major staying races, the Motivator gelding ran seventh in each of his first two starts this time but clearly relished a continued step-up in distance; running second in the Group 3 NE Manion Cup (2400m) and third in the Group 2 Chairman’s Handicap (2600m) most notably. While perhaps unable to get the trip in the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) last start, Café Society should enjoy a step back in distance and class on Thursday.

3rd

Ungrateful Ellen ($11)

Ungrateful Ellen will carry only 54kgs in the 2016 Warrnambool Cup and will be partnered by notable jockey Dwayne Dunn. Running second to champion mare Winx in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m) during a standout autumn and winter campaign in 2015, the Grey Swallow mare returned this time for fifth in the Ladbrokes Odds Boost BM84 (1400m) on March 2nd before taking out the Catanach’s Jewellers BM84 (1800m). While failing to fire in the Terang Cup (2156m) last time out, Ungrateful Ellen will relish a step up in distance in the Warrnambool Cup.
